Toronto Argonauts head coach Ryan Dinwiddie is officially heading back to where his football journey began — this time as a member of the Boise State Athletics Hall of Fame.

Before carving out a reputation as one of the CFL’s sharpest offensive minds, Dinwiddie was a record-setting quarterback for the Broncos, starring from 2000 to 2003. The Elk Grove, California native completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 9,819 yards, 82 touchdowns, and just 21 interceptions across four collegiate seasons. His 28–6 record as a starter helped Boise State capture two bowl victories and achieve a pair of top-25 AP finishes, laying the groundwork for the program’s rise into a national powerhouse.

Dinwiddie remains the school’s single-season passing leader and still ranks near the top of nearly every major statistical category: second in total touchdowns, third in career passing yards, and third in passing touchdowns. Those numbers made him one of the most prolific passers in Boise State history — and a natural choice for Hall of Fame recognition.

After a brief stint with the Chicago Bears, Dinwiddie transitioned north to the CFL, where he spent five seasons between Winnipeg and Saskatchewan, throwing for more than 2,500 yards. His move to coaching in 2013 marked the start of a second act that’s been every bit as impressive.

Now in his fifth season as head coach of the Toronto Argonauts, Dinwiddie has guided the team to a 51–35 record, three East Division titles, and two Grey Cup championships. His leadership and offensive creativity have cemented him as one of the league’s top minds — and his alma mater has clearly taken notice.

Dinwiddie will be inducted alongside Derrick Marks (basketball), Chris Petersen (football coach), Shani Remme (gymnastics), Kristie Schoffield (track and field), and Raimee Sherle (soccer). A date for the ceremony has yet to be announced.
