The United States Women’s National Team entered the opening match of a challenging two-game series against Spain looking to gauge its progress ahead of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Prior to kickoff, U.S. head coach Emma Hayes emphasized the importance of a collective team effort against one of the world’s top sides. However, that cohesiveness was tested early as Spain struck in the third minute.
Spain opened the scoring through midfielder Patri Guijarro, who capitalized on an early opportunity to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
