Week 5 picks:

ALB @ HFX
Albany. The FireWolves capitalize on a Halifax team that is rapidly imploding. The biggest concern here will be getting out of the game with minimal injuries and PIM.
OTT @ TOR
Ottawa. Same premise here, the Black Bears sweep a Toronto team that is not far behind Halifax on the road to implosion, despite a better showing in Georgia two weeks ago.
ROC @ BUF
Buffalo. Banner raising night, coming off two solid road wins, and facing a Rochester team that is reeling with a chance to sweep a series – can’t not go with the defending champs here.
PHI @ SASK
Philadelphia. Giving the slight nod to the Wings’ offense, currently averaging 16.3 goals per game, to knock off an undefeated team.
VAN @ CGY
Vancouver. Curt Malawsky will have a few tricks up his sleeve to spoil his former team’s home opener and put a “1” in the Roughnecks’ loss column.
GA @ COL
Colorado. I might be in the minority here, but I’m taking Dillon Ward to out-duel Brett Dobson in net to hand the Swarm their first loss.

Albany vs Halifax
Pick – Albany
It’s been a bumpy road for this Albany to start the season, but they will bounce back. There is just too much turmoil on and off the field for Halifax that I don’t see how they win this game.
Rochester vs Buffalo
Pick – Buffalo
Rochester is playing decent lacrosse. The problem is they are running into a juggernaut in the Bandits. Buffalo is in mid-season form and I have no reason to believe they won’t pick up another win.
Ottawa vs Toronto
Pick – Ottawa
The Rock looked better in their game against Georgia but I really need to see more. Meanwhile, Ottawa has the pieces to be a winner.
Philadelphia vs Saskatchewan
Pick – Saskatchewan
This is a tough pick. In my mind, good teams find ways to win and that’s what this Saskatchewan team has been doing even without Robert Church. This will be a real test but I’m going with the Rush.
Vancouver vs Calgary
Pick – Vancouver
There just something about this Vancouver team that I’m really liking. Calgary has got a lot of production out of Dickson and Dobbie but could use some secondary help. I’m going with the Warriors in a close one.
Georgia vs Colorado
Pick – Georgia
Another great matchup! Both teams are playing great lacrosse right now. Yet, I have a hard time betting against Brett Dobson in goal and Lyle Thompson.

Albany vs. Halifax
Albany wins.
Halifax has a lot of distractions at the moment. Albany is a lot better than they’ve shown so far. Albany wins big here.
Rochester vs. Buffalo
Buffalo wins.
Buffalo at home and a banner raising ceremony? The Bandits will be playing with a lot of emotion, but also are on a mission! Rochester has been good but not great. They will need to be great to steal this one.
Ottawa vs. Toronto
Toronto wins.
The Rock are too talented to go 0-4 on the year. They played good enough to beat Georgia last time out. Ottawa has a good team, but can they handle a desperate Toronto team?
Philadelphia vs. Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan wins.
This is a litmus test for both teams. This will be the game of the week! Look for the Rush to try an exploit the Wings defense in transition. Rush win this game late.
Vancouver vs. Calgary
Vancouver wins.
I think Vancouver has the edge in this game. Look for the Warriors get off to a strong start and keep the Roughnecks off balance.
Georgia vs. Colorado
Georgia wins.
This will be a good test for the Swarm. Georgia looked very good against San Diego, watch them put on the same display against the Mammoth.

Albany has definitely struggled to pick up wins against teams they should have beaten, but I feel like with a struggling Halifax team, Albany should come out swinging and knock down the Thunderbirds.
Rochester vs Buffalo
Pick – Buffalo
Rochester has been playing some great lax as of late, but how can anyone go against Buffalo right now?
Ottawa vs Toronto
Pick – Ottawa
The Rock have been struggling, and that may be the understatement of the year, I feel like the Black Bears will come out quick and push the Rock around for an easy W.
Philadelphia vs Saskatchewan
Pick – Saskatchewan
The Rush just keep on winning and I do not think this will stop here, while the Wings have been playing very great, I just feel like the Rush will come out for a 4th straight.
Vancouver vs Calgary
Pick – Calgary
I witnessed history with Dane Dobbie and his game against Albany, and while yes, the bulk of production has been coming from the vets, I just can’t find myself betting against Dobbie, King and Dickson.
Georgia vs Colorado
Pick – Georgia
This is absolutely game of the week, both team are on fire right now and this will come down to who and shove harder then the other, who can go on bigger runs, and with the way the Swarm have been playing, I will take them over the Mammoth.
