
The Maple Ridge Burrards picked up a 12–11 overtime win in dramatic fashion over the Nanaimo Timbermen on Sunday night in WLA action.
Leading by five late in the third period, the Burrards surrendered five unanswered goals—including four with an extra attacker—as the Timbermen forced overtime.
Just 44 seconds into the extra frame, Nanaimo’s Ryan Sheridan was assessed a minor penalty for a crease violation. On the ensuing power play, Dylan McIntosh scored the game-winner just 14 seconds later.
Marcus Klarich led the Burrards with one goal and five assists, while McIntosh had a four-goal night. Declan Fitzpatrick recorded a hat trick and added an assist for a four-point effort. Brandon Humphrey got the start in goal for Maple Ridge, stopping 29 of 40 shots.
For the Timbermen, Sheridan paced the offense with four goals and one assist. Colton Lidstone chipped in with two goals and three assists. Colby Bowman got the nod in net, making 45 saves on 57 shots.
Quick Start for the Burrards
Maple Ridge struck early, with Klarich opening the scoring unassisted just 2:26 into the game.
However, Nanaimo responded with a two-goal run. Sheridan tied it 26 seconds later, then scored again at 7:07 to give the Timbermen a 2–1 lead.
The Burrards evened things up at 10:08 with a goal from McIntosh. Brayden Laity added another at 12:21 to round out the scoring in the first, giving Maple Ridge a 3–2 lead at the break.
Natural Hat Trick for Fitzpatrick
McIntosh opened the second-period scoring just 18 seconds in, converting off a feed from Nash Moog. Sheridan kept the Timbermen within striking distance with an unassisted goal at 3:30.
But Maple Ridge closed the period with a 4–0 run. Fitzpatrick scored at 6:31, then again just 1:04 later to make it 6–3. He completed the natural hat trick at 10:21, converting off a feed from Ethan M’Lot.
M’Lot added a goal of his own with 1:48 remaining, giving the Burrards an 8–3 lead heading into the third.

McIntosh Wins It in Overtime in Dramatic Fashion
The Burrards continued their run in the third, as Garrett Winter scored off a pass from Fitzpatrick at 2:16 to make it a five-goal streak.
Nanaimo finally answered at the 5:00 mark with a shorthanded goal from Thomas Vaesen. But Maple Ridge quickly responded with a shorty of their own—Laity scored at 6:50 to make it 10–4.
The Timbermen capitalized on a five-minute roughing penalty to Moog. Pilcher scored on the power play at 8:06, followed by another from Vaesen just 47 seconds later.
McIntosh temporarily halted the momentum with a power play marker at 11:22, restoring the five-goal cushion and making it 11–6. But then the comeback began.
Lidstone scored with 4:37 remaining, and the Timbermen pulled Bowman for the extra attacker. Sheridan scored with 1:33 left, then Lidstone followed just 11 seconds later to cut the deficit to two.
Nanaimo kept Bowman on the bench, and it paid off. Jeremy Wudrick scored with 1:01 left, and Pilcher buried the tying goal with just five seconds on the clock, completing a five-goal comeback and sending the game to overtime tied 11–11.
In the extra frame, the drama continued. Sheridan was called for a crease violation 44 seconds in, and it proved costly. Just 14 seconds into the power play, McIntosh scored his fourth of the game, sealing a 12–11 victory for the Burrards.
