The Calgary Roughnecks got their first home win of the season, topping the Philadelphia Wings 10-9 on Saturday night. Tanner Cook looked sharp in the first half of the game for Calgary, dialing up a hat trick. Philly’s defense had problems dealing with both Cook and his teammate Riley Loewen. Loewen also had a big night with 6 points on 3 goals and 3 assists. Both offenses were good, coming up with some nice creative plays as this game came down to the wire. However, special teams struggled, as Calgary went 2 for 5 on the power play, and Philadelphia’s normally efficient man-up unit went just 1 for 4. Shots were also relatively low in this game, with Calgary taking 47 to Philly’s 44. The Roughnecks are on a bye next week, then stay home to host another struggling team, the Halifax Thunderbirds.

Calgary Cooks Up Some Wings
The Philadelphia Wings fall to 1-2 on their three-game road trip. The Wings played a solid first quarter getting out to a 4-2 lead, but allowed Calgary to tie the game 5-5 at halftime. These teams were going back and forth in the second half; however, Philly falls just short on the road. They will have to try to rebuild confidence coming back home and getting ready to face the top team in the NLL right now in the Saskatchewan Rush. Kyle Jackson continues to make quite the impression in his return to the Wings. Jackson lit the lamp 3 times in this game, and has recorded 12 points in the last two games. He and the rest of the Wings will need to be ready for the high energy Rush team that’s coming to South Philly next Sunday.
Wow.
