The Six Nations Chiefs (13-2) traveled east to face the Cobourg Kodiaks (6-9) in Major Series Lacrosse action Sunday evening at the Cobourg Community Centre in Cobourg, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Warren Hill in net for the Chiefs facing Jackson Brown in net for the Kodiaks.
For almost half of the game, the Cobourg Kodiaks pressed and pressured the Six Nations Chiefs. However, the last thirty minutes of the game the Chiefs took over control scoring seven of the last ten goals in the game. Six Nations wins comfortably 13-9.
Dhane Smith (4g,2a), Josh Byrne (3g,3a), and Ryan Smith (3g,1a) led the way for Six Nations. Alex Marinier (3g,4a), and Aaron Woods (2g,2a) led the offense for the Kodiaks.
To The Game:
Ryan Smith opened the scoring on the power-play with an in close shot off a Josh Byrne pass at 2:22, but Brock Haley answered with a blast off a Dante Kulas pass at 6:29.
Dhane Smith regained the Chiefs lead with a high to low laser off a Tyson Bell pass at 6:47, but Aaron Woods answered with a sidearm snipe off a Zach Thompson pass at 14:15.
Dhane Smith again scored with a howitzer off a Larson Sundown pass at 15:14, but Ty Thompson again evened the score finishing an Aaron Woods pass at 15:37.
Larson Sundown then converted a Matt Marinier pass to give the Chiefs a one goal lead at the intermission.
After one period, Six Nations 4 Cobourg 3.
Second Period:
Dante Kulas tied the game for the Kodiaks with a low to low shot off a Tayler Dooley pass at 0:19 seconds, but Josh Byrne was able to regain the lead with a jumping high to low blast off a Tyson Bell pass at 2:35.
Alex Marinier tied the game once again with an outside blast off an Aaron Woods feed at 3:41, but again Ryan Smith gave the Chiefs the lead yet again in this back and forth affair.
Aaron Woods would again tie the game before the Chiefs finally erupted for a three goal run.
Randy Staats scored from the side of the net off a Shayne Jackson cross crease pass at 9:30, followed by Josh Byrne converting a Ryan Smith pass at 14:57. Dhane Smith then added a low to low laser off an Ian MacKay pass at 18:06.
Alex Marinier kept the Kodiaks in the game with a late goal off a Zach Thompson pass at 19:06.
After two periods, Six Nations 9 Cobourg 7.

Third Period:
Cobourg continued to fight hard early in the third period, but as the game wore on Six Nations put it in another gear. Shayne Jackson opened the scoring with a sidearm snipe off a Lyle Thompson pass at 9:57, followed by Ryan Smith converting a Dhane Smith pass from in close at 11:26.
Josh Byrne continued the barrage with a high to low shot to the shortside off a Randy Staats pass at 13:43, followed by Dhane Smith with his fourth of the game off an Ian MacKay pass at 17:02.
The Kodiaks tried to fight to get back in the game with Alex Marinier firing a laser to the corner off a Zach Thompson pass at 17:54, followed by David Anderson with an outside blast off a Marinier feed at 18:45.
Final score, Six Nations 13 Cobourg 9.
Shots on goal favored the Chiefs 65-51.
