I was wondering how the Waterdogs were going to respond after being off for two straight weeks. Philly answered with an 11-10 win over the Utah Archers. Now, the Archers didn’t help themselves after racking up a total of 8 minutes in penalties in this game. But Utah’s defense was trying to contain CJ Kirst, which itself is a tough mission. Kirst can bully a defender one on one, he can make moves to create his own shot or to create enough space to facilitate a teammate scoring. CJ Kirst puts up 5 goals in this game, and now has a total of 11 goals in his last two games.
The Waterdogs offense also did a great job of scoring in transition, including rookie Matt Collison, who scored his first PLL goal from 2-point land. Michael Sowers had 3 assists in this game. The Waterdogs now head into the All Star break on a high note. Philly sits in second place in the East Conference with a 3-2 record as they prepare for the 2nd half of the season.

Archers Will Be Looking For Their Turnaround
Despite the penalty troubles they had, Utah took this game down to the wire, and showed they have plenty of firepower. In the 1st half, it was Sam King who had back to back goals, finishing the game with a hat trick. In the 2nd half, Ryan Stines getting a pair of goals to add to his two assists for a 4 point night. Connor Fields with a pair goals for himself. Now falling to 2-4 on the season, I expect that after the All-Star break, the Archers are going want to come out of the 2nd half of the season with a little bit more hunger.
