Colsey Scores Five As Adanacs Repeat As Minto Cup Champs

The Coquitlam Adanacs (5-1) faced the Orangeville Northmen (2-3) in game two of the Minto Cup finals at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario.  Coquitlam won game one 7-5 on the strength of four goals from Cody Malawsky.

The goaltending match-up had Evan Constantopoulis in net for Orangeville facing Jack Kask in net for Coquitlam.

Coquitlam jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead on goals from Ryan Colsey, Parker Kennedy amd Oskar Lucas.  After a timeout from the Northmen, they got comfortable playing a stronger defensive game the rest of the period.  Orangeville was rewarded late in the period when Owen Rahn converted a perfect pass from Dylan Sanderson to narrow the deficit to two.  After one period Coquitlam led 3-1.

The second period saw Orangeville come to life with five goals in the period.  Led by Owen Rahn, Orangeville mounted a strong offensive plan.  Coquitlam retaliated with Ryan Colsey scoring three times in period to even it at 6-6 heading to the third.

The third period saw Orangeville take a two goal lead, only to have the Adanacs get on a four goal run to change to complexion of the game.  Although the Northmen got within one, they couldn’t find the tying goal.  Coquitlam wins 11-10 to win ths best of three series 2-0, repeating as the Minto Cup Champs.

To The Game:

Ryan Colsey opened the scoring for Coquitlam with a high to low laser that just dribbled by Evan Constantopoulis off a Cody Malawsky pass at 1:35, followed by Parker Kennedy wirh a high to low shot that found the corner off a Nathan Chalmers pass at 3:29.  Oskar Lucas added to the lead with a sidearm snipe off a Jordan Reed pass at 7:53 to take a commanding 3-0 lead early in the game.

Owen Rahn finally got Orangeville on the board with a beautiful goal from the top of the crease offa pin-point pass from Dylan Sanderson at 19:29.

After one period, Coquitlam 3 Orangeville 1.

Second Period:

Max Kruger got the Northmen within one with a blast off an Ayden Matthews pass at 2:13, followed by Vince Onofrio with a low to high laser off a Liam Matthews feed at 8:53 to tie the game.

Dylan Sanderson gave Orangeville their first lead with a high to low bounced shot off a Max Kruger pass at 10:03, followed by Trey Deere with a low to low shot off a Liam Matthews pass at 10:55 for a two goal cushion.

Ryan Colsey answered back with a pair of goals to tie the game.  The first was off a Jaxon Dillon pass at 13:09, followed by a high to low shot off an Oskar Lucas feed at 14:40.

Owen Rahn then converted a Dylan Sanderson rebound at 17:15 to give the Northmen the lead again, but Colsey answered with his fourth of the night on the power-play off an Aiden McDonald pass at 19:57.

After two periods, Coquitlam 6 Orangeville 6.

Third Period:

Orangeville got to work immediately with Max Kruger scoring off a Trey Deere pass at 1:21, followed by Deere himself scoring off a Dylan Sanderson feed at 2:34.

Coquitlam answered back when Aiden McDonald blasted a Ryan Colsey pass at 3:16, but Dylan Sanderson stopped their momentum with a low to low shot off a Vince Onofrio pass at 5:38.

Coquitlam mounted a strong attack scoring four unanswered goals.  Ryan Colsey continued his hot night with a blast off a Wren Glanville pass at 8:59, followed by Cody Malawsky with a sidearm snipe off a Nathan Miller feed at 10:23.

Parker Kennedy gave the Adanacs the lead converting a Ryan Colsey pass 0:13 seconds later, followed by Nathan Chalmers with a power-play marker off a Jaxon Dillon pass at 15:59.

Dylan Sanderson brought the Northmen within one at 16:19, but Orangeville was just unable to find the equalizer.

Final score, Coquitlam 11 Orangeville 10.

The Coquitlam Adanacs win back to back Minto Cups, winning the best 2 of 3 series in two straight games.
