Del Bianco Allows Two Goals in Adanacs’ Win Over Thunder

The Langley Thunder could not solve Christian Del Bianco in the Coquitlam Adanacs’ 12-2 win on Wednesday night in Langley.

Del Bianco held the Thunder offence to just two goals on 34 shots. Credit also goes to Coquitlam’s defence, which limited Langley to only nine shots in both the first and third periods.

The win keeps Coquitlam in the hunt for first place with a 4-2 record, while Langley falls to 1-6.

Coquitlam’s offence was led by James Rahe with two goals and three assists, while Dennon Armstrong added five assists.

For Langley, Dante Kulas had a goal and an assist, while Jon Phillips scored the Thunder’s other goal.

Frank Scigliano got the start in goal for Langley and was pulled after allowing nine goals on 31 shots. Keegan Okino finished the game, surrendering three goals on 16 shots.

First Period

Coquitlam took control early, jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Jalen Chaster opened the scoring 2:23 into the first period.

Clark Walter scored on the power play at 10:49 before adding another goal with 2:24 remaining in the period to cap the three-goal run.

Kulas scored off a feed from Alex Lemieux with 1:46 left in the frame as the Thunder trailed 3-1 after the first period.

Second Period

The Adanacs extended their lead to 5-1 with two quick goals to open the second period. Kean Moon scored at 1:15 before Matthew Delmonico found the back of the net in transition just 55 seconds later.

Phillips scored on the power play for Langley at 3:37, but the Thunder offence went silent for the remainder of the game.

Rahe scored for Coquitlam at the 8:57 mark before adding his second of the night off a feed from Armstrong at 12:06 to make it 7-2.

Laszlo Henning got on the scoresheet at 16:53, and Moon rounded out the second-period scoring with 2:11 remaining to give the Adanacs a 9-2 lead heading into the third.

Third Period

Del Bianco stopped all nine shots he faced in the third period to secure the victory for the Adanacs.

Walter completed his hat trick 1:05 into the period to make it 10-2. Chaster then scored at the 2:02 mark to stretch the lead to nine goals.

Brian Gillis rounded out the scoring with 3:33 remaining as Coquitlam cruised to the 12-2 win.
