At the beginning of tonights game the Philadelphia Union were referred to as Ferocious, Wonderful, Among The Best, Brilliant, and Very Good. The Union are making a very solid name for themselves Under Bradley Carnell’s leadership. At 29 degrees out tonight in Massachusetts, Both teams looked very cold, and out of sorts early on. The stadium appeared to be at about 1/4 of their full capacity. The Union started off with early control of the ball.
We must have heard Westfield’s name a dozen times in the first half. He was certainly a key figure in keeping the ball away from the Revolution. The first half was a bit of back and forth. Many passes and shots were overshot, and it almost resembled a volleyball match at times with the ball being so high in the air.. At 47 Minutes Tai Baribo performed and awesome scorpion kick throwing his leg up behind himself and ducking down to make a brilliant pass.
The real excitement tonight started at about 75 minutes into the match. Tai Barbibo scored the first goal of the match, tying the record for most goals in the first three games. Tai’s goal seemed to warm up the frozen Union, and the ferocity showed itself for the first time this evening. After that goal it was a different, more energetic game.
At 90 minutes the game was issued 10 minutes of stoppage time. In the 96th minute Kai Wagner issued a pass to Jovan Lukic. Lukic nailed a perfectly executed shot to the left interior side of the goal post, locking in a second Union goal. The final score this evening was 2-0 Philadelphia, and this makes three consecutive wins for Philadelphia this season.
