The Hunt Starts Again! The Albany FireWolves are set to open the 2024-2025 National Lacrosse League (NLL) season tonight against the Saskatchewan Rush. Fresh off an NLL Finals appearance, the FireWolves will look to start the new season with a bang.
A year removed from being the youngest team in the league, the FireWolves are now ready to showcase their growth. Tonight will feature two NLL debuts: Zac Masson, a defenseman who has been awaiting his shot for a couple of years, will finally get his chance to shine. Along with Masson, Dyson Williams, the 2023 first overall pick from Duke University, will make his much-anticipated NLL debut. Williams brings a mix of speed, strength, and skill that promises to be a challenge for opponents.
Additionally, Eric Fannell, a free-agent signing from Halifax, will make his FireWolves debut. Fannell adds the kind of strength the FireWolves wished they had in the NLL Finals against Buffalo.
When asked about nerves heading into the new season, Glenn Clark, the 2024 NLL GM and Coach of the Year, confidently stated there are no nerves. “The preseason is an anticipation of what is to come, and the boys have been waiting for this,” Clark said.
As the new season kicks off, the FireWolves will look to make another run at the championship and fight for their first NLL title!
