Noakes Leads Coquitlam Adanacs Past Nanaimo Timbermen

Adam Noakes recorded a goal and six assists as the Coquitlam Adanacs defeated the Nanaimo Timbermen 14-8 in WLA action on Sunday night.

Noakes factored in seven of Coquitlam’s 14 goals, while Riley Isaacs had a hat trick. Jalen Chaster and Dennon Armstrong each finished with two goals and an assist for Coquitlam, while Kean Moon collected two goals and three assists.

Nanaimo’s Noah Manning posted three goals and three assists, while Jeremy Wudrick had a goal and two assists. Andrew Bowman recorded two assists.

Between the pipes, Christian Del Bianco picked up the win, stopping 29 of 37 shots. Nanaimo went with Devlin Shanahan over Colby Bowman. Shanahan stopped 31 of 45 shots in the loss.

Coquitlam outshot Nanaimo 45-37, including a 17-15 edge in a pivotal second period.

The win keeps the Adanacs in third place with a 5-3 record, one game behind the Maple Ridge Burrards and Victoria Shamrocks.

Meanwhile, the Timbermen dropped to 3-4 but remain in a playoff position in fourth place. They will look to rebound in their next outing.

First Period

The teams traded goals throughout the opening period. Kean Moon opened the scoring just 55 seconds into the contest before Colton Lidstone tied the game for Nanaimo.

Jalen Chaster restored Coquitlam’s lead, but Griffin Hall answered for the Timbermen.

Isaacs scored at 10:43 to give the Adanacs a 3-2 advantage after 20 minutes of play.

Second Period

The Coquitlam Adanacs broke the game open in the second period, outscoring Nanaimo 7-4.

Thomas Semple scored twice during the frame, while Isaacs added two more goals to complete his hat trick.

Moon, Noakes and Kyle Brunsch also found the back of the net. Manning scored twice for Nanaimo, while Joel Mullen and Logan Schmidt added singles as the Adanacs carried a 10-6 lead into the third period.

Third Period

The Adanacs continued to pull away in the final period. Armstrong scored twice and Chaster added two more goals, including the game’s final marker with 1:13 remaining.

Nanaimo received goals from Wudrick and Manning but could not significantly cut into the deficit as the Adanacs pulled away for the 14-8 win.
