The Denver Outlaws and California Redwoods matched up Saturday afternoon in PLL Week 2 action. The Redwoods beat the Utah Archers 9-5 in the season opener last week, and were looking to get a second consecutive conference win to start their 2026 campaign. Meanwhile, the Outlaws lost 10-7 to the same Archers team the following night, and were trying to avoid dropping a second straight conference game. Four different Outlaws players had two goals in a razor-thin 10-9 victory that evened both teams’ records at 1-1.
Outlaws blank Redwoods in second quarter for first half lead
The game started with a three-goal flurry in a span of 13 seconds. Zach Geddes (3:25) scored for Outlaws, but Chris Merle answered for Redwoods eight seconds later. Luke Wierman then took the next faceoff to the house (3:38) to put Denver up 2-1. Brayden Mayea scored (4:15) off a feed from Dylan Molloy to tie the game at 2-2 before Jared Bernhardt (7:12) put the Outlaws up 3-2. California then ran off four straight goals, starting with Aidan Danenza going back-to-back (7:46; 8:08). Josh Balcarcel (10:48) and Michael Boehm (11:41 power play) followed as the Redwoods took a 6-3 lead after one quarter. The Outlaws returned the favor in the second quarter, stringing together their own four-goal run while keeping California scoreless. Jonathan Donville (0:57), Logan Wisnauskas (1:03), Bernahrdt’s second (11:03), and Justin Anderson (11:46) gave Denver a 7-6 lead going into halftime.

Outlaws hold on for first win of 2026 season
Mayea opened the second half with his second goal (4:32) to tie the game 7-7. Geddes (7:13), Anderson (8:42), and Wisnauskas (11:36) each netted their second goal to put the Outlaws up 10-7 going into the fourth quarter. The Redwoods would pull within one in the fourth quarter on a goal from Andrew McAdorey (6:56) and Mayea’s hat trick goal (9:52). However, they were unable to find the equalizing goal and Outlaws escaped with their first win of 2026. Denver will play the New York Atlas in a 2025 Championship rematch in Week 3 in Baltimore (May 30). California will have two weeks off with a bye in Week 3.
