The New Westminster Salmonbellies hosted the Maple Ridge Burrards at Queens Park Arena Thursday night in Week 7 WLA action. After an 8-0 start to the season, New Westminster suffered back to back losses to rivals Victoria and Coquitlam. Meanwhile, the Burrards came in winners of three straight, having overtaken Langley for the fourth and final playoff seeding. Haiden Dickson and Mitch Jones had big games for the Salmonbellies as they triumphed 10-6 to snap their two-game skid and improve to 9-2 (18 points; second place in the WLA standings). Maple Ridge falls to 4-6-2 with the loss, opening the door for Langley to climb back into fourth place with a win later this weekend against Nanaimo.
