USMNT Set for Group D Showdown Against Australia at FIFA World Cup 2026

SEATTLE — Fresh off an emphatic 4-1 victory against Paraguay, the U.S. Men’s National Team will continue its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign when it faces Australia on Friday, June 19, at Seattle Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET and the match will be broadcast on FOX and Telemundo.

The United States enters the contest atop Group D after securing three points against Paraguay behind a historic two-goal performance from Folarin Balogun. The striker recorded the first brace of his international career and became just the second American player to score multiple goals in a World Cup match, joining Bert Patenaude, who famously netted a hat trick against Paraguay in 1930.

Balogun’s performance highlighted a memorable opening match for the Americans, who saw seven players make their World Cup debuts. Gio Reyna added his first World Cup goal, while Christian Pulisic recorded an assist to become the USMNT’s all-time leader in World Cup assists with three.

Friday’s meeting marks the fifth all-time encounter between the United States and Australia. The Americans defeated the Socceroos 2-1 in their most recent meeting in October 2025 and hold a 2-1-1 advantage in the series.

Seattle Stadium has historically been a fortress for the U.S., which owns a perfect 6-0-0 record at the venue. Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan could make history if he appears, becoming the first USMNT player to play in a World Cup match at his club’s home stadium.

Following the Australia matchup, the United States will conclude Group D play against Türkiye on June 25 in Los Angeles as it seeks a place in the knockout rounds.
