After losing two straight games, the Philadelphia Waterdogs bounce back in the win column against the California Redwoods by a score of 12-9. Philly is sticking to its offensive game plan, and that’s wreaking havoc down low in the opposing defensive zone. Jake Taylor finds loose change and cashes in for a goal, getting things going for the Waterdogs offense. Jack Hannah had a monster game, recording a hat trick for Philly, and Thomas McConvey added a pair of goals. The Waterdogs did a great job of reading the Redwoods’ defense and exploiting the holes, whether that meant taking the ball to the net or setting up the pick-and-rolls to score.

Give Philly’s defense credit too – allowing just six Redwoods goals in total on the day. The Redwoods found success shooting from the outside early, but Waterdogs head coach Bill Tierney made the adjustments of having his defenders play a lockdown on the perimeter the final 34 minutes of the game. This was a good win for the Waterdogs as they head into the All-Star break.

The Redwoods, after losing against the Denver Outlaws less than 24 hours prior, dialed up some good 2-point shooting. California scored three outside 2-pointers, two courtesy of Romar Dennis, who was able to create separation and shoot lasers from behind the arc. Chris Kavanagh, between two defenders, also unloaded a 2-pointer to the back of the net. Dylan Molloy brought a nice inside game on Philly’s defense. The Redwoods hung with the Waterdogs as long as they could. However, for the second straight game, the Redwoods would falter in the fourth quarter. With the All-Star break coming up, this will give California time to regroup for the second half of the season.
