The Philadelphia Waterdogs are defending their home turf against the Boston Cannons. Michael Sowers uses vision, surviving in the field, and finding open teammates in scoring lanes. Sowers finds his partner in crime, Kieran McArdle. McArdle was able to shoot the ball down low and get things going for Philly. Sowers had 2 goals and 5 assists on the day, with 4 of those assists coming in the first quarter. This Waterdogs offense is clicking on all cylinders right now. Philly had 4 players score 2 or more goals in this game. Thomas McConvey had a huge 4-goal night. The Waterdogs move to 2-0 with a 14-11 win over the Cannons, and move to the top of the Eastern Conference standings, looking to run it back as they face off against the Denver Outlaws on Saturday night. Michael Sowers already has 12 assists through two games this season, and 15 points total. McConvey and McArdle each have 7 goals under their belts this season. 12-year veteran goaltender Dillon Ward made 9 saves off 20 Boston shots on the night.

Can the Cannons rebound after this loss to the Waterdogs?

Even though the Boston Cannons got a taste of defeat, you can see why they’re going to be a tough customer for any team in the PLL. Boston gave Philly a run for their money – the defense was really good in this game, putting Philly’s offense in difficult situations. Sometimes the Cannons were rolling out double to triple coverages, and you can’t afford to sleep on their offense, as we saw in tonight’s game, where Philly looked to have this game put away at times, only for Boston to battle back. The Cannons got great production from top draft pick Coulter Mackesy, who stepped up and recorded a hat trick. Asher Nolting had a goal and 2 assists. Boston will be looking to get back on track next week in Baltimore, when they face the hometown Maryland Whipsnakes.
