
The Riverhounds kicked off against Loudon United, coming off an impressive 1-0 win against New Mexico United. Loudon coming into Highmark Stadium with an 8-5-2 record 3rd in Eastern Conference. Riverhounds 6-6-2 record 5th in the Eastern Conference. Riverhounds is moving up in the standings with 3 consecutive wins entering the match. Loudon opened up scoring in the 7th minute with a goal scored by Loudon’s Riley Bidois off a Wesley Leggett cross.
The Riverhounds responded with an equalizer goal off a penalty kicks in the 12th minute scored by Augi Williams, his 3rd goal of the season. At the start of the second half, both teams locked the game down and played keep away that ended in the 73rd minute when Robbie Mertz scored off a chip from Danny Griffin to make it 2-1 Riverhounds However, in the 2nd minute of stoppage time, Ben Mines got the equalizer off a bad deflection from a Riverhounds defender to close out the full-time 2-2 draw. In the post game press conference, Bob Lilley thought the effort was sub-par and hoped that they would have gotten the points to put them in 3rd place. Next week, the Riverhounds travel to Detroit to face Detroit City FC Friday night, July 18th, from Keyworth Stadium. Detroit’s record is 5-6-5 7th in the Eastern Conference standings.
