The St. Catharines Athletics (2-2) faced the Coquitlam Adanacs (3-1) in semi-final action at the Minto Cup Tuesday night at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario.
First Period:
The first period had Coquitlam take it to the St. Catharines Athletics, scoring five times and chasing starting goalie Ty Wilson. The Adanacs got out to a quick two goal lead led by Nathan Chalmers and Cody Malawsky, and kept the pressure throughout the period. Coquitlam led 5-2 after one.
Second Period:
The Athletics looked much better in the second period scoring two quick goals to get back within one just 2:21 into the frame. Coquitlam stormed back with three goals themselves to take a stranglehold midway through the period. However, two late goals from the feisty Athletics group had it only a two goal deficit heading to the third period.

Third Period:
St. Catherines got within one quickly in the third, but a pair from Cody Malawsky, including probably the goal of the tournament, restored the Adanacs three goal lead at 2:26.
The Athletics kept pressing. Two power-play goals brought them within one goal once again at 5:24. A howitzer from Ryan Colsey, followed by a laser from Wren Glanville gave the Adanacs a bit of breathing room with a three goal spread, but Keaton Zavitz scored for St. Catharines to keep things close.
The combination of Kolsey and Malawsky struck again with a pair of late goals, but a laser from Jameson Bucktooth kept St. Catharines alive late in the period. Coquitlam was able to withstand the late challenge, coming away with the 14-11 victory.
